Cynthia's Center for Keratoconus PledgePage

History and Mission

Center for Keratoconus was founded in 1999 by Robert Gavin, an actor who starred in the popular ABC television series "Land of the Lost" as well as guest starring on "Baywatch". Gavin himself has keratoconus.

The Center for Keratoconus is one of the largest international health organizations for keratoconus, with over one million annual visitors to its website.

Our scientific and medical team includes doctors at Johns Hopkins University, University of California at Los Angeles, New York University, University of Iowa, University of Michigan, Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, and Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Our mission is to eliminate keratoconus as a health problem and to help patients restore normal vision and regain their livelihood by supporting research, education, advocacy, and service.

Some of things we provide include:

Increasing public awareness by providing keratoconus information, access to new stores and medical literature, and an interactive forum for doctors and patients.

Educational resources for patients, their families, and for doctors.

Support for keratoconus research.

Financial support for those who do not have insurance for keratoconus.

Expanding insurance coverage to cover all viable treatment.

Facilitate medical professionals in state-of-the-art keratoconus care.
